Product Review - MyProtein My Bar Zero

Hey Guys,

Today I am reviewing Myproteins My Bar Zero.

The My Bar Zero is designed to be a no added sugar, low calorie, low carb bar that would be great as a portable meal or to help crave a sweet tooth.

Here is what Myprotein had to say about them,

MyBar Zeros are a deliciously tasting, high protein bar perfect for anybody wanting an alternative source of protein when on the go.
These indulgent bars are available in 5 fantastic flavours which include; Lemon Cheesecake, Chocolate, Almond Vanilla, Strawberry Vanilla and Apple Cinnamon.
As an alternative way of eating these bars, remove the packaging, place on a tray/dish and try baking them in a pre-heated oven for a few minutes, or putting them in the microwave for approximately 20 seconds. It will turn them into a soft and gooey bar, perfect for a high protein dessert or an evening snack. You can also try adding peanut, cashew, or almond butter to the bars to further improve the taste.
Each bar provides 20g of protein per serving which will contribute to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass. MyBar Zeros are low in saturated fat and provide 90% less carbohydrates than a standard protein bar*, making them the ideal snack to increase your protein intake. The high protein content in these bars is sourced from milk protein which contributes to the exceptional amino acid profile. Unlike many other protein bars, there are no polyols added to MyBar Zeros.
The MyBar Zeros are perfect as a convenient snack throughout the day or to consume around your training sessions to increase your protein consumption. They are a great snack for anyone with a sweet tooth and looking for a great-tasting, high protein bar.

For the purpose of this review I tried the Chocolate and Apple and Cinnamon flavours.

So what where they like?

Well firstly the nutritional information was Ok for a standard protein bar and they don't have any any hidden sugars or nasties that I would want anyone eating, so that's a plus. they also kept really well in and out of the fridge (although the fridge makes them very hard). The packaging is great and made the bars easy to carry around with me on train journeys etc, which was great as some bars get squashed really easily.

The problem is the taste and texture. the just taste really, really powdery. I couldn't even finish the chocolate bar and threw it in the bin after one bite.

I would recommend getting just one bar to try before you get the whole box. If you like the texture then these are an ok bar to use when travelling long distances, but I certainly won't be using them as there are far better alternatives with better taste.

The My Bar Zero range can be bought from Myprotein for either £1.99 per bar or £19.99 for a box of 12 bars.

Stay healthy,

Mike
